Industrial Relations, Public Sector (IRPS) has a key role in ensuring government’s industrial relations policies are implemented. IRPS partners with agencies in planning, negotiating and finalising workplace bargaining processes.IRPS develops policies, directives, circulars and guidance notes on industrial relations matters and assists in resolving employment relations challenges in the public sector, including government owned corporations.
As an Industrial Relations Officer you will contribute to the development and implementation of Government’s industrial relations agenda.

In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Queensland industrial relations jurisdiction, in a central Government role with exposure to a diverse range of clients and industrial relations work.
You will contribute by assisting in various areas including:
- development and implementation of wages policy and broader industrial relations policy matters;
- enterprise bargaining, including the 2025-2027 public sector bargaining round;
- industrial instrument interpretation;
- technical and strategic advice on employment matters;
- negotiation and advocacy in tribunals and forums; and
- capability development initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the provision of information and advice to public sector entities, Government owned Corporations and other stakeholders on industrial relations matters, including matters arising under the Industrial Relations Act 2016, awards, certified agreements, Ministerial directives, circulars, guidance notes, and policies.
- Undertake research and assist the broader team's analysis, development, implementation, and review of industrial relations issues, policies, strategies, and initiatives.
- Support the preparation of submissions, briefing material, and correspondence on a range industrial relations matters.
- Support projects and activities within the team, such as the review of Ministerial directives, enterprise bargaining, capability development initiatives, industrial relations policy, and tribunal matters.
- Liaise with and support industrial and employee relations practitioners and other stakeholders across Queensland Government, to support the implementation of Government's industrial relations agenda and policies.
- Interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to build and sustain professional and collaborative relationships with team members and internal/external stakeholders;
- Ability to achieve work goals and meet deadlines, while working as part of a broader team;
- Undertake research and contribute to the analysis and resolution of industrial relations matters;
- Prepare briefs, correspondence, and advice on industrial relations matters
