About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a legal professional to join the Civil Litigation Section of the Crown Solicitor's Office with at the LEC3, 4 and 5 classification. Subject to varying degrees of supervision and direction, the successful applicant will provide high quality legal advice and representation on matters of varying complexity to clients of the Crown Solicitor’s Office.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing quality legal advice and representation for government across a wide range of Civil Litigation matters. The Civil Litigation Section provides legal services to the government and the statutory authorities for which the Crown Solicitor is authorised to act in relation to a wide range of civil litigation matters including civil and commercial proceedings, coronial inquiries and Royal Commissions.
Civil also includes a team specialised in advising the Attorney-General on claims made under the Victims of Crime Act 2001. Officers in the Section act as both solicitors and counsel in numerous courts and tribunals.
About the Business
The Crown Solicitor's Office provides legal services to government specifically to Ministers, departments and other public sector agencies. This includes providing legal advice, conducting a wide range of litigation including representation before courts and tribunals, negotiating and drafting for commercial property and general commercial transactions, drafting and producing a broad range of other legal documents, conducting summary prosecutions, Magistrates' appeals and native title claims and land conveyancing and investigation.

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain a practising certificate within South Australia.
