The Abra ProjectAbra Mining Pty Limited (Administrator’s Appointed) is seeking a Mining Engineer – Production for a full-time position with the company based at our Abra Mine in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The project site lies between the towns of Newman and Meekatharra.
Located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, Abra Mine is a world-class lead-silver project. With steady-state production volumes now established, Abra is poised to become one of the world’s largest primary lead mines, producing between 90 – 100ktpa lead and 600 – 800koz silver per year .
The mine has an estimated 10+ year life with a 1.5Mtpa production plan , and its underground ore is processed through a conventional plant to produce a high-grade lead-silver concentrate for export via Geraldton Port.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, as Mining Engineer – Production , you will be responsible for creating drill & blast plans, conducting ventilation surveys, preparation of ventilation memos/reports, stope evaluations and providing support for development, production, and other mining activities, ensuring the highest technical and safety standards are maintained.
You will provide technical support to the Senior Engineer and Mining Operations to execute and achieve the weekly plan.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
- Development of the operational weekly plan to include all the required activities to meet the forecasted targets
- Preparation of Teleremote plans for approval and distribution
- Stope evaluations
- Generation of Pastefill designs/fill notes
- Assist in completion of primary & secondary ventilation surveys
- Assist in preparation of ventilation memos/reports
- Assisting with the physicals summary of weekly report template, and highlighting/distributing variances to plan
- General data entry and tracking of daily production statistics.

Your work ethic will be reliable, consistent, and always with a high attention to detail. You are a collaborative and productive team player. In addition, you will need:
- Tertiary Qualification in a Mining Related Discipline
- Current WA “C” class driver’s license
- Computer literacy and business software knowledge of mine production systems and software (eg Deswik, Ventsim & Microsoft excel)
- 2-4 years mining industry experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- An outcome-focused attitude with well-developed self-management skills
- The ability to meet established timeframes and solve daily problems that arise
- Understanding of relevant WA mining legislation
- FIFO 8:6 roster ex Perth or DIDO ex Meekatharra and surrounds
