An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse (CN) who is expected to be able to practice autonomously and provide leadership in clinical decision making within Vascular Access Surveillance and Education (VASE) Unit. Vascular Access Surveillance and Education (VASE) is an HHS wide service that facilitates clinical, educational and surveillance aspects of vascular access device utilisation across all professional disciplines. The Clinical Nurse will be required to demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge and skills relating to Vascular Access Devices (VAD) and is able to function in more complex situations whilst providing support and direction to other staff. The VASE Service provides expertise in the area of ultrasound and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) insertion and management.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Education, training and support for all levels of healthcare professionals whose scope of practice includes insertion of, and management of vascular access devices.
- The provision of nursing care that meets the ANMC Competency Standards and other professional practice standards relevant to the position.
- Perform ultrasound guided PICC insertion at the bedside utilising ECG technology.
- Perform PIVC surveillance and insertion.
- Maintaining advanced knowledge and skills in the speciality area of vascular access device management, peripheral vascular access device insertion and the prevention of infection.
Remuneration value up to $118 710 p.a., comprising salary rates $54.44- $58.30 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 6 (1)) (Permanent Part-Time position, 68.4hrs p.f.).
