At SLSQ, we are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Member Project Officer to join our team and play a key role in driving our membership initiatives. This is your opportunity to make a real impact by supporting projects that enhance the wellbeing, participation, and success of Surf Life Saving Clubs in Queensland.
As the Member Project Officer, you’ll work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure that membership initiatives are delivered smoothly and in alignment with our Membership Strategy. Your role will help bring our projects to life, ensuring our clubs, members, and volunteers thrive in an environment built on SLSQ’s values.

What You’ll Do:
- Drive Project Success: assist in the seamless coordination and execution of exciting membership-related projects from start to finish, ensuring each project aligns with our strategic goals.
- Empower Our Clubs: help coordinate engaging events, workshops, and webinars that enhance the success of SLSQ Clubs, improve member experience, and build a stronger community.
- Support Member Wellbeing: play a crucial role in delivering SLSQ’s Member Wellbeing programs, focusing on both preventative and reactive mental health initiatives.
- Data & Insights: collect and analyse valuable data and feedback from members to continuously improve engagement, program outcomes, and decision-making. Stay ahead of trends in volunteering and membership to inform initiatives that make a difference.
- Content Creation & Promotion: assist in creating and distributing compelling membership materials like newsletters and promotional content to keep our members informed and engaged.
- Ensure Project Excellence: monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track, on time, and within budget.
- Drive Membership Growth: contribute to planning and executing member drives, retention campaigns, and initiatives designed to build a stronger, more connected membership base.
- Collaborate & Report: work with marketing, communications, and internal teams to align membership goals with broader organizational objectives. Provide updates and detailed reports on project progress and outcomes for senior leadership.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of Surf Life Saving, with prior volunteering or club involvement being highly valued.
- Strong skills in managing projects from concept to completion with a focus on organization, deadlines, and budget.
- Exceptional ability to connect with internal teams and external stakeholders across Queensland to drive project success.
- Strong management and organizational skills to juggle multiple projects and priorities efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address challenges with diplomacy and tact.
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel within Queensland (and occasionally interstate).
- Ability to attend committee meetings and the occasional ad hoc weekend work.
- Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with educational programs or mentoring will be an advantage.
- A background in volunteer management, marketing/communications, or business will set you apart.
- Experience working in membership-driven organizations.
- Familiarity with CRM systems to support effective membership management.
