Newly created, permanent part-time role, 21-hours per week
As we prepare to open the reimagined Newcastle Art Gallery, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Exhibitions Production Assistant to join the team in this newly created role, working 21-hours per week.
A key role in our Curatorial and Exhibitions Team, the Exhibitions Production Assistant will support the practical installation and technical realisation of Newcastle Art Gallery's ambitious artistic program. Under the direction of the Exhibitions Lead, you will contribute to the delivery of temporary exhibitions, artist commissions, and collection displays across multiple spaces, by undertaking the detailed installation of artworks across a variety of physical and digital mediums; coordinating exhibition furniture, lighting and equipment, maintaining exhibitions and displays, light fabrication and technical troubleshooting.
Working closely with the Exhibitions Production Officer and Registration and Collections Officer, you will support the logistical and practical delivery of efficient, sustainable, and high-quality exhibition outcomes, following industry best practice standards. You'll bring your confident verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce and share information relating to exhibitions to contribute to the Gallery's WHS, procurement, and reporting systems.
This role would suit a detail-oriented problem solver with developed consultation and communication capacities, a keen eye for detail, and good knowledge of the technical requirements for the presentation of art in all its forms.
