An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and dynamic educator to join the leadership team as Deputy Principal at Yarrabah State School.
This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, from 22 April 2025 until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
The successful applicant will develop the quality of teaching and learning nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

Comprising three separate campuses (Pre-Prep, Primary and Secondary), our school caters for just under 500 Indigenous students from Pre-Prep to Year Ten living in the community of Yarrabah and outlying areas. All of our students are EAL/D learners, speaking Yarrie Lingo (an Aboriginal English/ Kriol) and with varying degrees of command of Standard Australian English. Our Special Education Unit is located at the Primary campus and provides support to verified students across all three campuses. About the Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
