Role details The Informatics and Insights Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Data Analyst to join their team on a temporary full-time basis. Your opportunity The Data Analyst will contribute to the development of Mackay HHS service planning through research, analysis and interpretation of data and information. To facilitate the use of data and analytics to support a learning organisation by providing access to and presentation of data and analytics (ie graphical representation, dashboards and contextual narratives) to enable clinical decision making and clinical practice change. The Data Analyst will work closely with staff to triage requests, define problems, and develop solutions. The analytics service would be utilised to inform service improvement for safety, quality, and efficiency. About the Team The Informatics and Insights Unit examines large, disparate and multi-modal hospital data sets, and investigates questions that arise with Mackay HHS. Informatics and Insights Unit makes a key contribution in the achievement of business goals by providing innovative reporting solutions through the use of Business Intelligence Tools and corporate information systems. Informatics and Insights Unit are also responsible for submitting mandatory and statutory reports. Informatics and Insights Unit team utilises a data lake to provide analytics and data solutions. The word Informatics is synonymous with computer science of which the central notion is transformation of information. We have the ability to map these data sets together to produce insights and solutions. Data can be used to develop retrospective, real-time or predictive dashboards and data solutions. About our Hospital and Health Service Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
