Roadways is a proud Tasmanian road surfacing company that has been in operation for 60 years and continues to deliver quality road solutions through our businesses including Roadways Surfacing, Linemarking, Civil Services and Rockit Asphalting.

We currently have an opportunity for an engineer ready to take the next step in their career. This is your opportunity to showcase your stakeholder engagement skills and attention to detail whilst working on high profile projects.

Based in Burnie and reporting to the Business (Surfacing) Manager North you will be responsible for assisting with the day to day management and contract execution of road surfacing and civil works projects across northern Tasmania.

Key responsibilities:

  • Application of engineering principles and standards to ensure quality and safety

  • Development and review of project plans, specifications, and cost estimates

  • Performing site inspections and surveys

  • Conducting research and testing on materials and methods

  • Monitoring and controlling project progress, quality, costs and risks

  • Communicating effectively with clients, stakeholders, and senior management, and

  • Solving complex technical problems and providing innovative solutions

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in civil engineering design or construction

  • Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software such as AutoCAD,

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
