Description:

Exciting opportunity available for Senior Medium Term Planning Engineer at Grange Resources. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing short to medium-term mine planning activities, leading the medium-term planning team, and providing guidance to the short-term planning team. The role involves developing designs, schedules, and work plans to ensure alignment with the Life of Mine Plan, budgets, and forecasts, while ensuring safety, environmental, and operational requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Mine Planning & Scheduling : Develop and manage short to medium-term plans (weekly to 3-month) aligned with the Life of Mine Plan, ensuring production and operational requirements are met.
  • Team Leadership : Lead and mentor the medium-term planning team, providing guidance to the short-term planning team and supervising junior engineers.
  • Safety & Compliance : Ensure all activities comply with safety, environmental, and legislative requirements, and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Operational Support : Collaborate with various departments (maintenance, geology, geotechnical, etc.) to ensure efficient mine operations, including equipment usage and mine design.
  • Performance Monitoring : Track actual performance against targets, analyze data, and recommend corrective actions to maximize mine efficiency.
  • Reporting & Communication : Prepare and present reports on mine production, monitor KPIs, and deliver operational updates.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify and implement improvements to enhance production, reduce costs, and optimize processes.
  • Equipment & Contractor Management : Oversee equipment performance, assist with contractor claims, and ensure proper equipment scheduling and usage.

Requirements

  • A Mining Engineering Degree
  • Completion of a graduate training program and a Quarry Manager's Ticket
  • Experience in drill and blast operations
  • Experience in open-cut mining operations, particularly in both production and planning roles
  • Proficient in mine planning software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external contractors
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and promoting a safety-first culture
