About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a unique executive level opportunity for a Head of Platform Systems - Supply Chain, to join our Maritime Australia business on the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP). You will be based out of our Osborne Naval Shipyard and have access to flexible work arrangements, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
BAE Systems Maritime Australia (formerly known as ASC Shipbuilding), has been contracted to design and deliver the world's most advanced anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy. The Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian Defence supply chain over the life of the program.
As the Head of Platform Systems - Supply Chain, you will be responsible for all major platform sub-contracts on the Hunter Class Frigate Program. This is a critical leadership role where you will lead all elements of sub-contract management including performance, cost and schedule.
Key responsibilities include:
- To act as lead point of contact for all issues with the suppliers in relation to contract compliance, ensuring adherence to all contractual obligations through effective commercial management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, etc.
- Manage all Category A & B procurement for prototyping and ship acquisition for the Hunter Class Frigate Program
- Lead the supplier sourcing process and provide recommendations on behalf of the project
- Manage and lead a large team in achieving outcomes consistent with planned procurement activities on budget and within the schedule.
- Identify and manage supplier risks and opportunities, including those of the suppliers' supply chain
- Work with the project team, ensure supplier performance to cost, delivery, quality and responsiveness in line with the project requirements, developing and embedding the required KPIs and reporting requirements
- Facilitate effective relationships with suppliers, internal/external customers and senior stakeholders across the business/functional teams to ensure a coordinated approach to supplier management
- Proactively engage with key suppliers to enhance capability and efficiency
About YOU
You will have:
- Significant procurement/supply chain experience ideally gained in a shipbuilding and or maritime defence environment
- Demonstrated experience in active contract delivery
- Strong account management/cost account management experience
- Strong leadership and team management experience to manage and motivate a large team
- A high Level of human relations skills required including the ability to interact and influence senior management as well as motivating a large amount of staff within the team
- Excellent communication skills in order to persuade and achieve commitment from stakeholders
- An ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside the immediate team, to implement contractual and sound practice requirements
- Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
