About us

HOPE has been a provider of community services in Western Australia for over 120 years, providing much needed support for people in the areas of alcohol and other drugs, mental health, justice and family and domestic violence. About the Opportunity

The purpose of the Outreach and Community Manager role is to lead, develop, implement, oversee, and manage the operations, and the future growth and development of the Old Ways New Ways (OWNW), Street Yarning and School Leavers programs. These services support Young People seeking support who may be at risk. The role may also expand to any new additional services where appropriate.

The Outreach and Community Manager will maximize the potential of the program to provide culturally competent, inclusive & respectful services to meet the needs of the clients. Whilst building and maintaining strong working relationships with WA Police (WAPOL), Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS), and collaborating with a range of other stakeholders to ensure all activities are in accordance with the service agreements.

The primary location for this role will be Armadale with some travel to the Perth CBD.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in social work, psychology, health, education, social science, or approved equivalent, with demonstrated experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated experience at managing and reporting on operational systems for a health or community services organisation, including effectively planning and allocating resources to maximise operational efficiency and meet funding deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience at managing all aspects of staff and team performance, including recruitment, staff orientation, line management supervision, staff disciplinary action, performance development and reviews, and team building.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people and professionals and manage difficult situations.
  • Ability to monitor data to evaluate and inform service delivery.
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships at multiple levels (e.g. Community, funding agencies)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of accountability systems and continuous quality improvement processes, including the utilisation of data systems, the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and the use of evaluation and risk management tools.

Optional but advantageous criteria

  • Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with young people.
  • Experience in service provision in the Youth Justice Services, Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health sectors.
  • A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in regions.
  • Current knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.

What you will need if you are successful

  • Current unrestricted WA Driver's licence
  • National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months)
  • Department of Justice Clearance (HOPE will assist you in obtaining this clearance)
