THE ABRA PROJECT
An exciting opportunity has emerged for an experienced Site Accountant to join the experienced and collaborative team at Abra Mining Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed).
The Abra Mine, located 220 km north of Meekatharra in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, is one of the world’s cleanest and largest standalone lead-silver projects. The mine produces between 90–100ktpa of lead and 600–800koz of silver per year. With a mine life of 10+ years, Abra has successfully transitioned to steady-state production volumes after completing construction and commissioning in late 2022.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Commercial & Site Services Manager, with a dotted line to the Financial Controller, as Abra’s Site Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring that the general accounting initiatives and functions have been successfully carried out on site, as per site and Management requirements, in accordance with company policy, as well as providing support to the Commercial & Site Services Manager.
As part of this, you will be accountable for:
- Conduct cost review meetings with Site Department Managers
- Act as the liaison between the company and suppliers
- Assist with the receipt and distribution of diesel fuel deliveries and calculate fuel rebates
- Assist with reagent stocktake
- Assist with warehouse stocktakes
- Assist with Stock receipts and Store issues
- Aid in the monthly inventory closeout process
- Assist in preparing site accruals.
- Assisting with raising purchase orders
- Prepare monthly power, man day and flight allocations
- Ensure the weekly cash flow is updated and distributed
- Collaborate with the Senior Financial Analyst on budgeting and forecasting tasks
- Assist Senior Financial Analyst with monthly management reporting
- Providing reconciliations of general ledger accounts
- Monitor site expenditures and reconcile site credit card transactions.
- Support site personnel with ERP Systems (Pronto and Redmap)
- Provide support for various other finance functions as needed
- Assisting with half-year reviews and annual audits
- Continuously review the use of Pronto and Redmap to identify any potential control weaknesses, adverse events and opportunities for improvement/development
- Assist with internal queries
You will bring a strong accounting knowledge to the role. Your work ethic will be reliable, consistent, and always with high attention to detail. You will be driven to seek out potential control weaknesses, and continuously improve the Company’s use of Pronto, and the Site’s reporting.
You will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting
- Minimum of 12 month’s experience in a similar role, ideally within the resources industry.
- Great attention to detail – you must be able to work in the detail without losing focus on the overall objective
- The ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously, and respond to work with urgency, identifying the necessary steps and moving forward through completion within deadlines
- Well-developed report writing and presentation skills
- Experience with Pronto & Redmap (desirable)
