About the Opportunity
Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is seeking a Tackling Indigenous Smoking Project Officer to join their team on a full-time basis in Broome, WA.
Reporting to the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Regional Coordinator , you will be primary responsible for monitoring and assisting of regional tobacco control activities throughout the TIS Indigenous Regions in the Kimberley.
More specifically, you will be:
- Ensure the program works within KAMS values and appropriate culture.
- Ability to support a regional team of community health educators in the delivery of Tackling Indigenous Smoking program.
- Provide proactive support to member services and the TIS educators to achieve key performance indicators
- Building knowledge and relationships with identified Indigenous Regions stakeholders
About You
To be considered for this position you will hold tertiary qualifications in health promotion, community development or health education or similar and have demonstrated experience working constructively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people and/or communities.
Importantly, KAMS is looking for someone with good interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills who has a sound knowledge and understanding of the issues impacting on the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require a Current “C” class manual drivers licence, and either hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children clearance prior to commencement.
