Townsville Hospital and Health Service , is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island; operating 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

Townsville University Hospital , the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for people living from Mackay up to the Torres Strait and out to the Northern Territory border.

About the opportunity:

Position: Cook

Vacancy: Fixed term temporary full-time up to 6 months with a possible extension up to 12 months / 76 Hours per fortnight

Location: Housekeeping / Ingham Health Service / Ingham

  • Salary range: $2585.80 to $2710.40 p.f. (OO3)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Although not mandatory a relevant trade qualification in cooking or previous work experience in a similar role would be desirable.
  • Possession of /or willingness to undertake studies leading to a Food Safety Supervisors Certificate.
  • Highly regarded: Experience in prioritising and co-ordinating work schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Highly regarded: Basic understanding of or the ability to acquire knowledge of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices and behaviours as applied in the working environment.
  • Highly regarded: Demonstrated comparable level of competency-based skills in professional and dietary cooking in a health care setting would be desirable but not mandatory for this position.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
