About the role:

Join Aurizon as a Terminal Coordinator at our Gillman Terminal, a critical hub that operates 24/7 to manage the despatch and arrival of multiple trains. This role involves a combination of hands-on and office-based responsibilities to effectively coordinate terminal operations and workforce activities. Given the round-the-clock nature of the terminal, this position requires working on a rotating shift roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate all operational activities within the terminal to ensure the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Utilise and maintain relevant systems to effectively plan, allocate, and manage terminal resources.
  • Oversee terminal facilities, including equipment acquisition, maintenance coordination, and supply orders for the team as required.
  • Assist in the implementation and delivery of administrative programs and operational initiatives across the section.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries, ensuring a strong commitment to high-quality customer service, including liaising with internal teams and third-party vendors.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of operational requirements to meet business and service delivery expectations.

About you:

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume rail, transport logistics, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work a rotating 24/7 shift roster, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Prior experience in shift work and an understanding of fatigue management principles are highly regarded.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team and build strong relationships to achieve operational goals.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Sound analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with diverse workgroups.
  • High level of proficiency in relevant computer systems and the MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a stringent safety-focused environment.
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks, including driving history checks, reference checks, and a Rail Medical.
