Location : Darwin, NT
Competitive Salary + Overtime + Career Growth . $120,000 - $140,000 with OTE + Super.
Workshop-Based Role | Leadership & Hands-On Work | Engineering & Industrial Maintenance
Start between April 1st & June 30th dependent on the right candidate’s needs.

Over the past 18 months, we have made significant investments in our workshops, in fabrication , industrial coating , rubber lining , and general facility upgrades . The Fitting, Machining & Maintenance Workshop is the next area of focus, and we’re looking for a passionate leader to help reset and grow this team.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Team Lead to drive excellence in both client job execution and internal maintenance of company-owned plant , equipment & vehicles . This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives in the workshop environment and wants to shape a key team in a wider business of more than 100 personnel.
- Workshop-based role with minimal site travel (optional remote work available if desired however not required).
- 70% leading the team on client projects, 30% overseeing internal maintenance .
- Opportunity to influence and lead workshop investment , process improvements , and team development .
- Plenty of overtime available (Estimated average hours 45-48 per week). MMC is open to varied hours structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Coordination
    Lead a small team of 5-10 personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
    • Provide mentorship , training , and support to team members.
    • Contribute to toolbox talks , job planning , and performance monitoring .
    • Drive a positive and safety-focused workshop culture .
    • Assist in and proactive approach to the selection and investment of new workshop tooling & equipment .
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality and coordinate workflow with team FIFO requirements of clients.
  • Workshop Operations & Fitting/Machining Work
    • Oversee and participate in machining , fitting , and assembly tasks .
    • Supervise first-class machinists in delivering high-quality work.
    • Ensure all work meets engineering tolerances and industry standards .
    • Interpret technical drawings , job specifications and support estimation process where required.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with WHS regulations .
    • Enforce safe work procedures and ensure the correct use of PPE .
    • Ensure all tools , lifting gear , and workshop equipment are inspected and compliant.
    • Lead by example in workplace cleanliness and hazard reduction .
  • Equipment & Inventory Management
    • Monitor and maintain workshop stock , tools , and consumables .
    • Assist with ordering materials and parts (supported by the scheduler).
    • Ensure all workshop equipment is in good working order and serviced regularly.
  • Maintenance & Repair of Company Plant & Equipment
    with support of a scheduler:
    • Oversee and conduct a preventative maintenance schedule
    • Oversee and Conduct servicing , inspections , and repairs on machinery, tools, and vehicles.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs (supported by the scheduler). Coordinate with external service providers when required (supported by the scheduler).
    • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical , hydraulic , and pneumatic system

About You
- Trade-qualified Fitter & Machinist who is looking for the next step in their career or with previous experience running a team.
- Experienced in maintaining mechanical plant & equipment in an industrial setting .
- Has a passion to take ownership of a role and make themselves the key to the business.
- Hands-on leader who is willing to work on the tools and lead by example.
- Knowledge of WHS regulations and safe work practices .
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement process improvements .
