We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Finance Manager to oversee core daily and monthly finance tasks for a highly reputable and growing Solar business. The role will be based at Northgate in Brisbane.

The candidate will be inquisitive and be prepared to work with senior staff to impart change in aspects of payroll, bookkeeping, compliance and related administrative functions to continually improve processes. Candidates will be highly competent in Xero accounting software and competent in Simpro job cost software.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Accounts Payable processing
  • Process month-end journals and reconcile the Balance Sheets
  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • Prepare and lodge payroll tax returns.
  • Ensure financial compliance and accuracy in all reporting processes.

Payroll & Employee Management:

  • Establish and update employee records
  • Set up employees in Xero
  • Oversee timesheet management, payroll processing, superannuation contributions, and leave management
  • Process employee expenses and expense claims

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Match supplier invoices to purchase orders to verify pricing accuracy
  • Process subcontractor and supplier invoices in the Job Cost System and export them to the Accounting System
  • Complete credit applications for suppliers
  • Issue invoices to clients and manage debt collection and reminders.
  • Coordinate client credit/payment plans.

Stock & Expense Management:

  • Help manage stock in Simpro
  • Receipt and verify purchase orders
  • Process expenses and expense claims

Administration & Compliance:

  • Maintain insurance policies and oversee risk management strategies
  • Document and update financial policies, processes, and procedures as required
  • Maintain the current integration between the Job Cost System with Accounting Software
  • Monitor and respond to accounts query emails
  • Verify subcontractor invoices back to head agreements as part of AP process

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll processing.
  • Highly competent in Xero and competent in Simpro
  • Strong knowledge of Australian financial regulations, BAS, and payroll tax.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to reconcile accounts accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently but escalate risks and issues in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in debt collection and client payment coordination is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimise financial workflows
