About the Role
The Engineering Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing and leading engineering activities across various aspects of Ironbark No 1 operation. The role will focus on managing a portfolio of multi-disciplined capital projects, equipment overhauls, minor and major, from concept to handover whilst imbedding continual improvement initiatives, complying with the company’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage annual capital project budgets, covering both expansionary and sustaining initiatives.
- Submit all necessary documentation in accordance with the company’s approval processes.
- Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring adherence to capital approval and control procedures.
- Ensure that new and refurbished equipment meets operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead engineering improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and performance.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritize projects focused on improving efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
- Facilitate post-implementation reviews and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Address ongoing equipment failures, enhance reliability, and minimize downtime.
- Partner with maintenance and production teams to implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
- Support the integration of asset management practices to optimize the lifecycle and performance of critical assets.
- Monitor asset performance, identifying areas for improvement, and collaborate on optimizing equipment and resource utilization.
- Lead failure investigations and apply root cause analysis to drive long-term solutions and improvements.
- Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Actively engage in safety audits and foster a collaborative, safety-conscious work environment.
What We’re Looking For:
To be successful in this role, we are seeking a candidate who is passionate about coal mining. The ideal applicant will have:
- Extensive experience in underground coal mining operations, with a focus on engineering and project management leadership.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Senior Project Management and or equivalent Superintendent Engineering position.
- Queensland Standard 11 – Surface and Underground certification.
- Certificate 4 Project Management (Mandatory)
- Engineering degree (Desirable)
- Mechanical and Electrical trade certificates (Mandatory)
- Associate diploma in Maintenance Management (Mandatory)
- Queensland Coal Board Medical (or willingness to obtain).
- Proven ability to manage large-scale capital projects, including budgeting, procurement, and resource coordination.
- Strong background in reliability engineering, asset management, and conveyor system operations.
