We are seeking an experienced Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) Superintendent responsible for efficient coal processing, crushing, haulage, delivery and logistics of saleable coal to the customer.
Reporting to the General Manager – Operations/SSE, this position is based at our Blair Athol Mine site, and the role and responsibilities include:
• Oversee short and long-term operations of the CHPP, Mobile Crushing plant, Haulage and Train loading to ensure productivity, availability, utilisation, safety, cost, quality and efficiency KPIs are achieved
• Lead CHPP Supervisors and Coordinators to develop, implement and monitor operational and maintenance activities
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives across the business and embrace innovative ideas from the team that impact internal and external stakeholders
• Communicate work tasks and KPIs to all team members across the business
• Effectively manage and oversee capital and minor project works in the CHPP, Mobile Crushing plant, Haulage and Train loading areas to ensure goals and objectives are achieved in a controlled, timely manner
• Live and drive a safety focused culture aligned to TerraCom values
• Conduct regular formal and informal communications with crews and coach all team members on enhancing safety and production outcomes
• Collaborate with the HST and Processing team to manage safety investigations
• Monitor and ensure appropriate rectification of all hazards and action items are completed according to requirements and in line with site SHMS
• Manage all costs across the CHPP, Mobile Crushing plant, Haulage and Train loading areas to ensure forecast and budget KPIs are met
• Ensure coal quality is managed in all aspects from the ROM, through processing and railing to ship loading, having regard for the geological model and the agreed coal recovery parameters
• Manage the onsite laboratory to ensure all coal quality information is accurate and sampling procedures are in line with company needs
• Ensure customer coal quality requirements are met and all coal quality properties are to correct specification
• Provide input and recommendations to the planning and execution of coal delivery to ensure outputs meet requirements for the railing and shipping schedule
• Provide and meet all budget and forecast costs in line with company requirements
• Provide accurate and reliable reporting and updates to marketing and commercial to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions around coal sales
• Strive for and always work towards improved efficiency and performance from areas that impact coal delivery
• Collaborate with the technical and planning teams to ensure shipping requirements are understood and met
• Oversee and maintain the operational relationship with railing and port service providers

What You Can Bring to the Role
To play a part in our ongoing success, we are seeking candidates with:
• Qualifications in Electrical/Mechanical/Process Engineering or trade related discipline.
• Previous experience (minimum 10 years) in a similar role leading the production and maintenance function for coal handling & prep plant.
• Exceptional influencing, communicating and team management skills.
• Sound commercial acumen with the ability to relate physical activities to budget goals and constraints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
• A results-driven mindset with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
