Join City of Moreton Bay's Advocacy Team and play a key role in driving Council’s involvement in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and other major projects !

This role involves collaborating across Council and with external stakeholders, driving and coordinating council-wide inputs to City of Moreton Bay’s involvement in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games including event management support, infrastructure and long-term legacy planning .

You will also focus on project managing key opportunities for the city, as it seeks to host lead-up events, with a particular focus on sporting events . You will provide project management support for major projects, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders and will be highly skilled at operating effectively in a politically sensitive environment.

    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 8 of EBA5
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.

About you

We are seeking someone who is excited about what the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games can be , and experienced in driving major complex proposals that meet strategic vision!

An excellent communicator, you will be an expert in building both internal and external relationships. You will be able to research and collaborate to provide accurate and timely advice across a range of technical, strategic and policy matters, ideally with ample experience in complex local government infrastructure projects that deliver strategic, including economic development outcomes and benefits for our communities.
Your highly developed analytical skills and an ability to take a strategic and political perspective on federal, state and local matters, will be highly valued by our team. In addition, you will have experience in:

  • Coordinating projects with government, industry and community partners.
  • Negotiating positive policy, reputation and funding outcomes including preparing successful grant applications and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Reviewing complex technical information and preparing concise strategic documents, reports, proposals, actions plans, advocacy strategies and briefing papers.

This role sits within our External Relations - Advocacy team, a close knit team of 7 working in partnership with Council divisions and external stakeholders to drive strategic coordination, advocacy, government relations and other services that enhance Council’s reputation and deliver positive economic and community outcomes which support Council’s strategic goals.

Our advocacy agenda is focused on creating positive collaboration between all levels of government to unlock our city's potential. Our team seeks to bring challenges and opportunities to the attention of decision-makers through constructive engagement and collaboration. This ensures policy and investment decisions of other levels of government and other strategic partners deliver the greatest benefit to our city and support our community’s vision for City of Moreton Bay.
