About Us

Foodbank SA & NT is South Australia and Northern Territories largest food relief organisation. We are a not-for-profit and non-denominational community-based organisation established in SA in 2000.

Our vision is to end hunger in South Australia and the Northern Territory. Our mission is to get the most good food, to the most people, in the most efficient way possible.

Foodbank SA & NT has 13 Food Hubs and provides food relief to over 150,000 people every month. One third of these are children. We source food from wholesalers, manufacturers, supermarkets and growers, saving more than 2.5 million kilograms of food from landfill each year. In the last 12 months, we have sourced enough food to put more than 10 million meals on the table of those doing it tough in our community.

About the Role

Foodbank SA & NT is seeking an enthusiastic candidate for the permanent, part time (20-24 hours per week) roles of Food Hub and Warehouse Support, assisting the Assistant Regional Manager with the daily operations of the Food Hub and Warehouse, including customer service and inventory management.

Foodbank Food Hubs are set up to resemble a general store and offer clients a dignified shopping experience. The Warehouse supports the operations of the Food Hub and services agencies, schools and partners in Alice Springs and the surrounding regions.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and friendly Food Hub and Warehouse team of staff and volunteers, where you will have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.

In this role you will:

  • Provide high level customer service with sensitivity to social and cultural needs
  • Receive, check, sort and store produce
  • Pack and pack orders in preparation for dispatch
  • Support stock control and ordering
  • Assist with the induction, training and management of volunteers
  • Support the organisation and presentation of the Food Hub
  • In the absence of the Assistant Regional Manager, support the Regional Manager to coordinate and support the volunteer team and ensure daily administration is completed.

About You

As the successful applicant, you will have strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with excellent time management, and you will enjoy working closely within a diverse and friendly team.

A commitment to community service and the not for profit sector is essential and previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage. A National Police Clearance and First Aid Certificate are essential - we can help you obtain if you do not already hold them.

A driver’s licence is essential. A forklift licence is preferred but not essential.

To Apply:

Please submit your application, including a one page cover letter and resume via Seek. Applications close at 9.00am on Monday 31 March 2025.

For enquiries, please email Tracy Hillier, HR Manager at tracyh@foodbanksa.org.au.

Foodbank SA & NT seeks to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.

As an organisation, Foodbank SA & NT is committed to protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults and promoting diversity and inclusion. All employees and volunteers are required to work within our Code of Conduct and to undergo pre-employment checks relevant to their role.
