We are offering a permanent role for a driven and highly focused Mainframe Application Maintenance and Support Specialist with previous experience working in a similar role in a senior capacity. This Australian based role is designed as part of a hybrid working arrangement, adhering to the Sydney time zone for our NSW/VIC based client.
The Mainframe Application Maintenance and Support Specialist role requires an experienced multi-skilled professional, with hands on experience in COBOL, SAS, IMS (DB), CICS, TSO and JCL . Must be a good team player, who is part of a team responsible for delivering end-to-end application Maintenance and Support services. The role collaborates with professionals in the regional and worldwide DXC Application Services community to leverage modern solutions and brings Mainframe expertise to ensure applications are developed as per Solution & Design. The successful candidate is motivated to take strong ownership on actions, to find innovative ways to improve the services’ agility and efficiency, and to continuously gain more skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform various activities associated with the development, support, enhancement, analysis, and maintenance of application development/system development projects according to the specifications of the client.
- Create application solutions that enhance productivity and effectiveness of systems.
- Support the business/systems requirements process, coding, testing, test plan preparation, testing validation, program debugging, implementation, and coordination of program releases. Meets applicable project milestones and deliverables.
- Handle production/on-call support.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Development, Maintenance and Production Support projects (mainframe Based)
- Experience with COBOL, SAS, IMS (DB), CICS, TSO and JCL.
- Run experiments on new and existing features. Ability to learn new technologies and influence the team
- Good Oral and written communication
- Agile methodology experience, working with small agile teams with strong ownership and drive
- Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall software development environments
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Additional/optional:
- Knowledge in mainframe tools such as JOBTRAC, ENDEVOR, MQSeries, STARTOOL.
- Experience in order tracking and inventory management, manufacturing industry.
- Certification in information technology disciplines
- Certificate in ITIL v3 or v4
