EDQ has a new, exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join its Urban Development team. This role will see you leading, planning and managing the Urban Development project management program, comprising multiple construction projects (infrastructure and building) of varying sizes and complexities and also providing expertise to the senior leadership team about all aspects of project delivery.

EDQ is responsible for delivering the purpose of the Economic Development Act 2012, principally the facilitation of economic development, diverse housing and development for community purposes. It is dedicated to driving economic growth, sustainable development, and community prosperity across Queensland, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our state. The Urban Development team works with key industry partners and stakeholders to facilitate delivery of development projects in a way which maximises economic, social and environmental outcomes for the State. These projects include large multi-year residential, mixed-use, industrial and urban renewal development projects (ranging in size from $10m over 1-2 years to $3b over 30 years) which generate ongoing employment opportunities, activate further development or create thriving communities.

The team manages projects across Queensland. You will report to the Senior Development Manager but also provide your expertise and advice to the leadership team about project management issues. You will have one direct report. Primarily, the larger projects are delivered with development partners, but EDQ leads a range of construction, repairs and upgrades as well as infrastructure projects directly. As the lead for project management on these projects, you will need to be able to lead the procurement process for external contractors, and also provide advice to leadership about project management issues.

About The Role

You will lead, plan and manage the Urban Development project management program, comprising multiple construction projects (infrastructure and building) of varying sizes and complexities within development projects, including:

  • Preparing for review and approval project budgets and delivery programs
  • Lead and manage the delivery of construction projects of varying types in line with budgets
  • Lead a strategic and coordinated approach to deliver procurement which achieves a strong market response
  • Lead the preparation and management of cost plans/budgets
  • Negotiate construction agreements and contracts to enable infrastructure delivery
  • Lead and manage construction applications and approvals
  • Build relationships with appropriate government departments, statutory authorities and councils
  • Lead and manage consultant teams
  • Ensure construction delivery with development strategy
  • Lead the handover of assets to the relevant authority
  • Ensure onsite risk management, WHS policies are followed and promote a zero-harm safety culture
  • Exhibit exceptional stakeholder relationship management, and participate in community engagement
  • Work across the Urban Development group to identify any areas for innovation or process improvement.
