DESIGN ENGINEER – MELROSE PARK

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Design Engineer to join our engineering team.
The role offers a variety of work in commercial; infrastructure and civil engineering covering diverse and challenging temporary works solutions and designs.
The Key Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain a safe working environment and ensure operations meet legislated safety, health and welfare requirements. Ensuring safety standards are adhered to and exceeded.

Ensure compliance of all Engineering Risk Management Policy and Procedures (ERMPP).

Ensure conformity of all engineering activities with Australian Standards and local codes of practice and Quality systems. Analyse drawings and specifications to evaluation engineering costs.

Provide support to your Design Office and manager, including all required administration of CRM and project records, Project Files and CAD system, defining construction methods, materials and quality standards.

Assist in Managing third party relationships with client engineering staff on major infrastructure projects to deliver full capabilities.

If required, attend site meetings with sales staff as directed by your Design Manager.

Liaise and support RMD Head Technical Office on projects with sales and clients.

Drawing related duties as directed by the Design Manager ensuring that you create economically viable designs for formwork, shoring and scaffolding schemes in accordance with requirements of current design codes and local regulations while adhering to company engineering policy and procedures. Monitoring customer changes in designs, evaluating effects on cost, and negotiating variations to designs.

Prepare drawings, calculations and equipment take off lists in accordance with stock availability and as instructed by the Regional Design Office Manager who will provide guidance and direction where necessary.

Taking telephone enquiries of a technical nature as and when required.

Ensure current Design Permissions Matrix & Improvement Plan targets are adhered to.

Provide support to Design Office Manager & team in organising and maintaining the filing of Job Files in the central filing system as per procedure.

Provide information and support to the Regional Design Manager in weekly Design/Sales Progress Meetings.
About You:
-
A self-starter with a practical mindset & visualisation in 3D. Understands how to read and incorporate engineering & architectural plans that interact with temporary works structures.

Proficiency at intermediate or advanced level using AutoDesk - AutoCAD 2D/3D or Revit 2D/3D.

Passion for combining engineering design & drafting

Excellent in visualising & problem-solving skills

Minimum 2 years of temporary works experience and a bachelor’s degree in civil, Structural or Architectural is essential.
