Full Job Description:We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all payroll-related regulations, and maintaining up-to-date employee records. You will play a key role in managing payroll activities and resolving payroll-related issues to ensure the smooth operation of payroll functions of the labour hire segment of the organisation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPayroll Processing:Process and manage the payroll for all employees in the labour hire arrangement, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Administer end-to-end weekly payroll processing for multiple clients within various payroll systems.Process new hires, terminations, and changes to employee information.Keeping up to date with changes in legislation and ensuring we comply with all Fairwork and ATO regulations, including PAYG, Superannuation.Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management or clients as needed.System Management:Maintain and update payroll data within the system.Generate and review payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues.Compliance and Documentation:Handle payroll tax reporting and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including changes in pay rates, bonuses, and deductions.Knowledgeable with Australian employment regulations / Fairwork award.Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.Communication Support:Verify timekeeping records and consult employees about any discrepancies.Provide support and assistance to employees regarding payroll issues and concerns.Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer payroll-related inquiries from employees.
QUALIFICATIONSExperience:Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.Xero Payroll Certified or other certification is a plus.Proficiency in payroll software such as Employment Hero, Deputy, Xero, Microsoft Office Suite, and other accounting systems.Have the mindset of continual improvement.Skills:Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others.Intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets, perform calculations, and analyze data.Personal Attributes:Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
