Opal is an industry-leading paper and packaging business across Australia and New Zealand. We have an opportunity for a Production Superintendent to join us at our historic site in Maryvale, Victoria. This role will oversee the Power & Recovery area at the site.

The key focus of this role will be to:

  • Oversee day-to-day production operations, ensuring safety, production, and environmental targets are met
  • Lead and develop a team of operators to maintain a high-performance work environment.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, waste reduction, cost optimisation and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Prioritising maintenance jobs with the teams and ensue the isolations and permits for shutdown are organised.

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

  • Experience leading longstanding production teams (ideally within a heavy manufacturing environment)
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience working on recovery boilers, evaporators or line kilns (would be very highly regarded)
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills in high pressure situations.
  • Strong knowledge of process manufacturing, production scheduling, and operational best practices.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering (preferred chemical)
  • Well-developed leadership and supervisory skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (including Excel) and experience using SAP would be viewed favourably
  • Ability to be agile and adaptable and respond quickly and effectively to changing priorities
