Description:
To provide administrative, research, implementation and community engagement support to the Place Based Planning team.
This is an Identified role under the Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role.
Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community
Support the Engagement Planner to:
- Work collaboratively with the Team Lead and project consultants to plan, develop, organise, draft and edit written strategic place based plans in the Orange Area in NSW
- Perform online and on-the-ground primary research and analysis under the supervision of the Team Lead
- Liaise with and positively manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders related to the plan development including community and First Nations groups and Aboriginal communities in Orange and NSW Peak organisations;
- Participate in interviews and stakeholder meetings to collect primary data;
- Administrative functions primarily connected with the project research;
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of working with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals in culturally appropriate ways, including communicating effectively and sensitively with Indigenous peoples.
- Organisational and time-management skills and experience in a team environment, including the ability to contribute to project plans, juggle priorities, and work to deadlines, in a learning and capacity building environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- An ability to prepare draft written content for various audiences, including general correspondence, reports, strategic plans and web content, research experience is desirable.
- Sound analytical, research and communications skills.
- Have completed formal TAFE or university study or equivalent research and/or writing qualifications, or currently undertaking such study, and/or extensive experience
- Current Working with Children’s Check
- Current Police Check
