Keolis Downer (KD) is a leading private provider of multimodal public transport in Australia, working collaboratively with State Governments to develop transport solutions that are tailored for all passengers. In Adelaide, KD partnered with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport in early 2021 with the aim of delivering revitalised passenger train services to the local community and increasing public transport patronage across South Australia.
Following recent business changes, KD will take on the critical role of custodian of the local network over the next decade, with a focus on asset management and maintenance . In the shorter term, KD will continue to focus on the provision of customer experience and security services for the next two years.

We are currently seeking qualified Rail Signal Technicians OR Electricians within the rail construction industry or Electrical Technicians with industrial experience. As part of this role you will learn:
- Learn about the installation, maintenance and fault-finding practices of modern signalling systems and control systems
- Learn about the maintenance and repair of numerous subsystems such as axle counters, track circuits, point mechanisms, signals and level crossings
- Learn how to perform safety inspections, routine maintenance, respond to incidents and repair of defects on critical signalling infrastructure
- Work on a range of signalling technologies and equipment from relay interlocking and mechanical equipment to modern Computer Based Interlocking (CBI) systems
- Work on complex train control systems, networking equipment and monitoring equipment
The successful applicants will be offered the opportunity of long-term employment with good career development prospects. You will have the rare opportunity of being paid to learn about complex systems that are used in rail signalling. Along with extensive on the job training, you will be provided training to achieve a nationally recognised Cert IV in Rail Signalling (this will include some travel interstate).
About you
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent electrical trades certificate issued by a recognised Australian training organisation)
- Certificate IV in Rail Signalling (desirable)
- Unrestricted Electrical Workers Licence
- A strong safety and procedural focus
- Knowledge of signalling systems and experience working in an operational rail signalling environment would be highly regarded but is not essential
- Well-developed problem resolution skills
- Must be able to obtain Category 1 Safety Critical Rail Worker health assessment, which includes a Drug and Alcohol Screening
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to ensuring a Zero Harm workplace, free of Alcohol and Drugs, and ensuring the safety of your colleagues and all workers
