We currently have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Puppy School Trainer to join our team on a casual basis, working approx. 3-6 hours per week.
About Beau’s Pet Hotel
Beau’s is a state-of-the-art Pet Hotel that offers a safe and loving holiday and DayCare experience for fur babies! We offer both standard and luxury accommodation for cats and dogs, doggy DayCare, Grooming services as well as Beau’s Training School. Beau’s is conveniently located in the Adelaide Airport precinct, right next to Harbour town.
All profits from Beau’s Pet Hotel are returned to Guide Dogs SA/NT to enable independence, participation, inclusion and wellbeing for people living with vision loss, and other specalised needs through the provision of Guide Dogs, Assistance Dogs and specialist services.
About the role
The role of Puppy School Trainer is to be the ‘face’ of Beau’s and provide exceptional customer service, while delivering Beau’s Puppy School course, working with clients to assist them in the early development of their puppy.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide thorough, friendly and respectful customer service, communication and education on our business and services.Prepare for classes, reviewing class lists and ensuring any special requirements for any puppies or clients attending the class are in place.Deliver training to clients according to Beau’s Puppy School curriculum.Ensure the safe management of dogs in group environments at all times.Provide confident, knowledgeable, and engaging presentations in front of groups of people and answer questions on the content presented.Ensure area is well presented and kept clean throughout and post class.Prepare graduation bags including promotional materials and puppy school graduation certificates.
This is a casual position, working approximately 3 – 6 hours per week on weekday evenings.
About you
We are seeking a Puppy School Trainer with the following skills and experience:
Knowledge and understanding of canine temperament, learning and developmental processes.Self-motivation and diplomacy with the ability to establish professional relationships and gain the confidence of a wide range of people.Experience in canine training with a willingness to follow Guide Dogs teaching principles and practices.Ability to teach skills to adults within individual and group settings.Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.Willingness to be hands-on in a range of tasks relating to canine care.Ability to be creative, innovative, flexible and accommodate change.Excellent time management, organisational and problem-solving skills.Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours.
A current Driver’s License and Police Clearance (cost covered) will be required.
