Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic
team.
This role will oversee allocated employees,
manage repairs and servicing of Council
plant and equipment, and coordinate with
the Plant Supervisor/Leading Hand Heavy
Duty Mechanic to ensure the efficient
operation of the Workshop.
Responsibilities:
• Undertake day to day workshop operations
• The position requires manual handling of items between
16 and 55 kg, bending, stretching to work on machinery,
and working on truck platforms, steps, ladders, and in
restricted areas.
• Monitor, repair, and service Council plant and equipment,
collaborate with contractors for specialized work, test run
equipment after repairs, report defects to the Plant
Supervisor, complete Job Cards, and attend seminars to
enhance skills and knowledge.
• Ensuring personal and others' safety, complying with City
health and safety policies.

The successful candidate will possess:
• Relevant Trade Certificate
• Forklift Certificate
• First Aid Certificate
• Automotive Air Conditioning Certificate - desirable
• Demonstrated understanding of Plant Fire Suppressant
Systems - desirable
• A current HR class driver's licence
• A National (or Federal) Police Certificate (no more than 6
months old)
