Our Client, a large Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced Digital Project Manager to join their team. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for driving delivery using agile practices and project methodologies, manage stakeholder holder engagement, lead project activities and execute project plans. This will involve working closely with technical delivery teams, Project Sponsor and relevant business stakeholders. On occasions this may involve working with third parties including solution providers.
We are looking for a strong team player that thrives on achieving outcomes and working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT). You will have extensive experience working in agile and ideally experience within the Australian Government and the digital service standard.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and implementing projects and/or programs in accordance with the Client's project management principles and methodology;
  • Working closely with Product Manager and ensure stakeholders are engaged across the whole project;
  • Lead project and/or program activities with detailed project plans, reporting on progress to ensure timely completion within budget while delivering business value;
  • Own and oversee project change control processes, assessing the impact of scope changes on timelines, costs, and resources;
  • Ensure timely and effective project communications, including sponsor interactions, meeting management, Product board meetings and regular reporting;
  • Manage project financials, including baseline setting, forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation;
  • Experience in collaborating closely with the vendors and ensuring they are accountable for project deliverables;
  • Prepare reports, briefs and project documentation as required to comply with Project Management framework and reporting requirements.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies;
  • Champion the agile mindset and ways of working to drive a culture of flexibility, collaboration, and continuous improvement;
  • Develop and maintain strong and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Essential criteria

  • Highly developed and demonstrated skills and experience (+ 8 years) in agile delivery and digital project management with strong knowledge and understanding of Digital Project Management methodologies and Agile product development;
  • Demonstrated ability to keep a team focused in a fast-paced dynamic environment and Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs;
  • Certification in Prince2Agile and Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, SAFe);
  • Proven ability to manage breakdown large complex problems into actionable pieces of work and collaborate with development teams, excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills (verbal and written) with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, including the ability to provide and negotiate options, recommendations and solutions in a timely and constructive manner.

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering digital projects and products in a government context and coaching skills ;
  • Certification in Program Management (PMP);
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Miro tool sets;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with third party vendors and companies that have provided services and solutions to projects and programs.
