About Us

Port Melbourne Chargers Women’s Football Club is an amateur women’s only football club competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association. Established in 2025, our Club is home to Premier & Divisional Women’s teams. At the Port Melbourne Chargers Women’s Football Club we are more than a football club - we are a community. About the Role

The Football Operations Committee Member provides strategic oversight and governance of all football-related matters. This role supports the development of a high-performing community based football environment by guiding coaching standards, enabling player development pathways, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering alignment with both AFL and VAFA strategies, and adherence to rules, policies, and structures.

As the Football Operations Committee Member, your responsibilities may include:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Club’s football program
  • Oversee all football-related matters, including coaching and player development
  • Ensure a structured development pathway for players and coaching staff
  • Ensuring compliance to VAFA competition and football operation requirements
  • Manage recruitment, retention, and overall team logistics in coordination with the Football Manager
  • Ensure PlayHQ compliance and registration processes are upheld
  • Support development of football-related policies and risk management strategies
  • Build relationships with junior club/s to enhance female football pathways
  • Collaborate with the Strength & Conditioning Lead, Football Manager and Player Wellbeing team to deliver a holistic athlete experience
  • Assist with season planning, fixturing, equipment needs and ground access

We anticipate the time commitment of the Football Operations Committee Member to be 2-4 hours per week (with peak periods pre-season and in-season).

As a strategic and committed leader within our Club, you’ll bring:

  • A commitment to the Club values of Community, Integrity, Passion, Respect & Excellence
  • Understanding of AFL and VAFA strategies, competition structures, policies, by-laws, and rules (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with players, coaches, VAFA and volunteers
  • Capacity to think long-term and contribute to policy and operational frameworks
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work in a volunteer-based environment
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a volunteer Working with Children Check
