Organisational Profile
GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, with culture at the heart of everything we do.
Position Purpose
The GEGAC Learning and Development Coordinator will:
Deliver an employee Learning and Development programs, contextualised to different workforce groups, which is offered along the continuum of an employee’s service and breadth of employees responsibilities (i.e. from an induction program to a management training program)
Establish and maintain a range of employment pathways into GEGAC, including student placements, market opportunities, and the delivery of GEGACs Academy traineeship program which is designed to support the recruitment, retention and qualification-attainment of young Aboriginal people.
Partner with managers throughout GEGAC to understand the range industry expectations for practice, and ensure the GEGAC Learning and Development strategy appropriately reflects these expectations and GEGACs Cultural Framework
Partner with managers throughout GEGAC to support the successful placement of traineeships and students roles within GEGAC
Key Selection Criteria
• Demonstrated capability to meet the key responsibilities of this position.
• Clear ability to undertake research, analyse & comprehend reasonably complex documents, write reports, and undertake a variety of administrative proceses.
• A team orientated person who has a passion for working with an Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander environment.
• A highly empathetic and emotionally intelligent person who can relate to staff and people in need.
• A person who can communicate at all levels with clarity and purpose. An ability to negotiate and persuade a variety of stakeholders.
• Awareness and recognition of Aboriginal culture and an ability to apply this to workforce development needs.
• A hard worker who can demonstrate a history of success.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
• Driver licence. ESSENTIAL
• Tertiary qualification in an area related to GEGAC program delivery ESSENTIAL
• Minimum Diploma-level qualification in the field of Learning and Development or Vocational Education and Training ESSENTIAL
• Relevant employment experience in a related field DESIRABLE
• A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
• A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
