We are seeking a passionate chef who is dedicated to creating exceptional culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will have a love for cooking, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications & experience

  1. Hold a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and
  2. At least 3 years of post-qualification experience as a chef.
  3. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  4. Ability to handle high-pressure situations and work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and inspire the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  2. Create and implement an authentic menu with seasonal specials, ensuring alignment with Sorrelli Cafe’s quality standards.
  3. Skilfully cooking a variety of dishes, including meat and fresh produce.
  4. Menu Planning as per the season and availability of ingredients.
  5. Operate large-volume cooking equipment, including grills and deep-fat fryers, safely and effectively.
  6. Monitoring cooking times and temperatures to maintain quality and safety standards
  7. Interacting with diners to provide recommendations or explanations about dishes.
  8. Manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory management, ordering, and stock control.
  9. Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen.
  10. Mentor and train kitchen staff, promoting professional growth and consistency within the team.
  11. Maintain budgetary goals by managing food costs without sacrificing quality.
