Your role:
A Gap Year in the Army gives you an exciting taste of life in the ADF with just one year’s commitment. You’ll get paid for meaningful work, receive full Army training, and enjoy memorable experiences – unlike anything you’d encounter in a regular gap year.
As an Army Officer, you’ll unlock your potential, develop invaluable leadership and management skills as you learn to take lead of a team of highly capable soldiers. You’ll become a leader who's committed, shows initiative and works well in the ultimate team environment.
Your 12-month experience is divided into stages. First, you’ll get paid to learn the military and job-specific skills you need for your role. Then, you’ll post to a unit to apply your newly learned skills and may have opportunities to travel around Australia to take part in domestic exercises and operations. You’ll also enter a specialisation, which can range from Armoured Officer to Engineering Officer to Signals Officer and more. Plus, you’ll be supported and guided by Army personnel throughout your experience.
After finishing your Gap Year program, you can choose to continue a career in the Army or you can use your new skills and experiences in future careers outside the ADF.

Salary:
Upon completion of your Initial Military and Employment Training, you’ll enjoy a salary starting from $102,763, plus 16.4% superannuation.

- Have completed Year 12, with passes in English and 3 other approved Year 12 subjects or be in Year 12 and on track to pass them all
