As a Principal Environmental Consultant , you will lead high-performing teams, drive business growth, and provide expert environmental advice on large-scale projects. The Role:
This position will lead the Construction Environment and Site Investigations teams, aligning with business strategy to drive growth and create new opportunities. You will be responsible for managing team resourcing, optimizing project delivery, and maintaining strong client relationships while actively contributing to key environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and mentor the Site Investigations and Construction Environment teams.
  • Oversee resourcing, performance, and professional development for team members.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and personal growth.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one sessions with team members, providing feedback and development support.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive business strategy and growth.
Business Development & Client Management
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business expansion.
  • Identify new market opportunities and drive business development initiatives.
  • Ensure teams maintain high levels of billable work and productivity.
  • Approve proposals, tenders, and client communications in line with company policies.
  • Lead client negotiations and contract discussions.
Project Management & Technical Expertise
  • Oversee site investigations and construction environment projects from concept to completion.
  • Provide technical leadership on environmental compliance, risk mitigation, and sustainability strategies.
  • Conduct project budget management, ensuring financial performance and profitability.
  • Deliver expert-level training, workshops, and presentations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all environmental assessments and audits meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review tender documents and project proposals.
Environmental Compliance & Advisory
  • Provide expert advice on EP Act and environmental legislation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support teams in resolving complex environmental challenges.
  • Develop innovative environmental management strategies that minimize risk and improve outcomes.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry developments by attending training, webinars, and industry events.
Key Requirements:
  • Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental consulting, project management, or regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership experience in managing site investigations and construction environment teams .
  • Proven expertise in environmental impact assessments, remediation strategies, and regulatory approvals .
  • In-depth knowledge of EP Act, ISO14001 , and other key environmental legislation and policies.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in client engagement, tenders, and contract negotiations .
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and team development skills.
  • Experience in a senior position within a leading engineering or environmental consultancy will be highly regarded.
