About the Opportunity
The Assistant Financial Analyst supports the Financial Accounting team with foundational financial processes to maintain accurate and compliant records. Reporting to the Manager Financial Accounting this role is responsible for assisting with journal entries, reconciliations, and maintaining financial data in the fixed asset register (FAR).
The Assistant Financial Accountant is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
- Assisting in preparing and posting journal entries in the general ledger to best practice standards.
- Performing accurate balance sheet reconciliations to best practice standards (supported and supervised by the Finance Accounting team).
- Supporting the accounting of prepayments and assist in monthly releases to ensure timely delivery and accuracy.
- Provide support in updating and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) as needed.
- Assisting in month-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Conducting preliminary account analyses and flagging discrepancies to ensure accuracy and best practice procedures.
- Supporting internal and external audit processes.
- Providing administrative support to the Financial Accounting team, including developing and maintaining internal process documentation
- Participating in training and development opportunities to build accounting expertise in line with continuous improvement outcomes.
About You
The successful candidate is eager to learn and develop in an accounting environment and out into practice their applied accounting knowledge.
In addition, you will come to us with:
- Qualifications in accounting, such as a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (in progress or completed) or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
- Experience in working with general ledger and reconciliation processes.
- A track record of accuracy and producing high quality
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (desirable).
- Solid Microsoft Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting
- A solid track record of collaboration within a team or with stakeholders.
