About The RoleThe Wellbeing team is part of RSL Queensland’s growing suite of Veteran Services. This role - which is referred to internally as a Wellbeing Advocate - focuses on building therapeutic relationships with veterans and their family by partnering them with local agencies, health practitioners, Government departments, and other ex-service organisations. By responding to and working with our ex-service community, you will be empowering veterans to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes. Our multi-disciplined Wellbeing team also plays an active role in supporting its local community by promoting our services and building important relationships with other community members.
As a RSL Queensland Wellbeing Advocate, you will be responsible for:
- Working with veterans and their families within our homelessness and financial hardship programs.
- Assessing clients and preparing case management plans that support an outcomes-based approach to veteran wellbeing.
- Preparing documentation that seeks support from: the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, other ex-service organisations; and rehabilitation providers.
- Collaborating with external health practitioners and allied health professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to holistic veteran-centred care.
- Conducting home and hospital visits to veterans to ensure they receive emotional support, counselling or other assistance are required.

To Succeed In This Role, You Will
- Have relevant tertiary qualification(s)/training (Degree or above in Community Services, Social Work, Human or Health Sciences) and a minimum of three years previous experience working with vulnerable people.
- Demonstrate proficiency in planning and managing client workloads across highly sensitive environments and situations.
- Use your superior communication and interpersonal skills to rapidly build rapport and trust.
- Enjoy building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess a Queensland “C” class driver’s license for work-related travel responsibilities.
- Understand the Australian Defence Force and veteran communities and their unique characteristics and sensitivities (desirable).
