This position will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisations project management capabilities and contribute to its overall success. Responsible for the development, monitoring, and reporting of Council’s capital works program, leading a team tasked with the development and implementation of our Project Management Framework currently focused on its capital works activities. The position requires a combination of project management expertise, leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills together with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of the public sector.
What you’ll be doing:
- As the Coordinator PMO your primary responsibility will be to review and improve Hume's Project Management Framework (PMF), ensuring alignment with strategic goals and community priorities.
- You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to develop guides, templates and processes that support various project methodologies and stages.
- Your role will also involve providing coaching and support to staff, overseeing the implementation of change management strategies and managing project software for transparent reporting.
- Oversee Council’s capital and project portfolio, ensuring alignment with Councils strategic priorities, community needs and resources.
- Monitor the delivery and performance of portfolio and project delivery, assessing initiative status, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- In consultation with internal stakeholders, develop and monitor Council’s 10 year and annual Capital program, supporting the development, and monitoring of broader organisational and financial plans.
- Facilitate and contribute to an aligned, high performing and effective team by leading, coaching, and mentoring team members, setting direction, providing context, and establishing clearly defined role expectations and performance monitoring.
- Proven experience in project management within a complex organisation
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks
- Ability to coach and mentor staff at all levels
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Change management expertise, including strategy development and implementation
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in project management tools and software
- Outstanding communication which facilitate effective and engaging relationships with both external and internal stakeholders
- Qualifications in a relevant field (bachelor’s or master’s degree, Project Management Professional certification, engineering or equivalent).
