Technical Project Manager

Description:

Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Technical Project Manager (EL1 equivalent).
This is a long-term contract role with an initial duration of 12 months and a 12-month extension term (1 extension), located at our client’s offices in Deakin, ACT, with hybrid working arrangements (minimum of 3 days each week in the office, with flexible arrangements in place for the remaining 2 days).
As the selected candidate, you will:

• Coordinate technical solution planning activities for new capabilities and features requested by the business, involving specialty teams within the Technology Services Division (TSD).
• Develop the project schedule and maintain the TSD plan, balancing technical dependencies and business requirements.
• Deliver all technical components of the project solution, working with internal teams to develop system and solution architectures, cyber security, and other aspects of technology delivery.
• Manage delivery partners for system implementation.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and Scrum teams, providing guidance and serving as the TSD point of escalation for technical issues.
• Represent the project in TSD ICT Change Management activities and release planning.
• Ensure TSD technology standards are met, including Cyber assessments, Penetration testing, and Go/No-Go gates.
• Apply DevOps principles to improve quality and reliability in areas such as release processes, automated regression testing, and integration with TSD monitoring systems.
• Actively manage project delivery using TSD’s standard Project Management tool, including management of plans, risks, issues, and key decisions.
• Publish weekly TSD Status Reports.
• Maintain a positive collaborative team environment, including business and delivery partners.
• Provide ICT Delivery leadership to the team, ensuring conformance to delivery methods.
• Champion continuous improvement, leveraging deep experience in ICT Delivery.

To be successful in this role you should have:

• Proven experience of 8 to 10 years in establishing and managing the delivery of technical ICT system delivery projects, including mobile applications.
• Recent experience in, and strong knowledge of, contemporary project management and governance frameworks and methodologies.
• Experience in Project Management within Federal or State Government environments.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and an industry-recognized qualification in project management, such as a Diploma of Project Management or SAFe Agile.

It is desirable if you have:

• Comfort with new ways of thinking about accessibility and enthusiasm for accessible design and development.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
