MSS Security is seeking Aviation Protection Officers to join our team at Hobart Airport. As an Aviation Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, and airport operations.
Your primary responsibility will be to prevent prohibited items, including weapons, from entering the terminal or aircraft. This will involve conducting thorough screenings, such as bag searches, hand scans, and using advanced security equipment like X-ray machines and Explosive Trace Detection systems.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct security screening for passengers, staff, and visitors.
  • Operate security technology and systems, including metal detectors, to identify potential risks or prohibited items.
  • Perform scans when required for passengers, staff, and visitors to ensure no prohibited items are being carried.
  • Conduct Explosive Trace Detection tests.
  • Operate X-ray machines to screen luggage for dangerous goods, prohibited items, or weapons.
  • Perform thorough bag searches when necessary to ensure compliance with aviation security regulations.
  • Monitor and patrol airport premises to identify and report any security threats or breaches.

Requirements:
  • Ability to undergo and pass a national security police check.
  • Ability to undergo and pass a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
