About the role:
MSS Security is seeking professional security officers for casual roles at the Hobart Magistrates Court. This key judicial site handles criminal cases, traffic violations, and preliminary hearings. Officers may be required to manage situations involving challenging behaviours or in high-stress environments.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responding quickly and appropriately to incidents involving disruptive or aggressive behaviour.
- Ensuring the safety and security of both visitors and staff within the court environment.
- Screening individuals entering the court building and ensuring compliance with all security protocols.
- Monitoring and overseeing courtroom security during hearings.
- Collaborating with court staff and law enforcement to manage high-risk situations.
What will make you stand out for this role? The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Previous experience in security or a related field.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations.
- Professional attitude and high standard of personal presentation.
- Confidence, assertiveness, and the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
Requirements:
- Full Australian Working Rights
- Valid Tasmanian Security License
- Certificate II (or higher) in Security Operations
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain)
- Working With Vulnerable People (or willing to obtain)
- Wiling to undergo a National Police Check
- Monday to Friday availability with some weekend work required as needed
