The role
The Manager leads and manages the planning and delivery of Council’s Engineering services through:
- Development of strategies, policies and guidelines in accordance with Councils long term strategic direction
- Preparation and delivery of professional and technical civil infrastructure services, including best practice tender and contract management
- Management of the unit budget and identification of grant opportunities
- Providing leadership, guidance and supporting the development of staff
- Developing and maintaining the trust and confidence of staff, Councillors, the Mount Alexander Shire community and our partners
- Interpreting and managing legislation and regulation requirements
As a member of the leadership team, you will work closely with other senior staff to create and maintain a culture that supports high levels of staff engagement and performance.
Our ideal candidate
We won’t settle until we find the right person for the role and our organisation, who will have:
- Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering, and extensive experience in the management of municipal infrastructure, civil design, construction and project management particularly in Local or State Government environments.
- Engineering registration
- A high level of managerial experience and a proven track record as an effective leader.
- Project management experience, from initiation through to implementation working to time and budget deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to work effectively in a complex, political environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and present to a variety of stakeholders
