Description:

Springfield Central State High School has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dedicated Head of Department - Student Services to join the Springer leadership team, delivering the vision of State Schools Division.

The successful candidate will be a highly capable instructional leader, with a passion and drive for leading student engagement through a multi-tiered system of support, as well as be futures-orientated, innovative and demonstrating strong organisational and management skills.

This role is offered on a temporary full- time basis, from 22 April 2025 until 11 July 2025 unless otherwise determined.

Springfield Central State High School is an Independent Public School located in Greater Springfield, South West of Brisbane (approximately 40 minutes travel from CBD). About The Role

As the Head of Department - Student Services you will have responsibility for:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Where requested, prepare all data returns for the Principal.
  • Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals.
  • Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Communicate and work with parents, staff, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to develop strategies to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.


The successful applicant will be required to lead the following portfolio responsibilities:

  • Year 9 Cohort
  • Aspiring Leadership Program (Staff)
  • Partnership with our Greater Springfield Learning Coalition
