About The Role
As a Principal Regulatory Investigations Officer, you will play a pivotal role in planning and leading investigations, resolving complex issues, and ensuring the integrity of evidence collection and analysis. Your ability to apply superior professional judgement, communicate effectively, and develop constructive recommendations will be crucial in this role.
You will have the opportunity to work with senior managers, executives, and agency staff, building strong relationships to support regulatory compliance. Your expertise in investigations methodologies and practices will contribute to continuous improvement within the Regulatory Audit and Investigations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead regulatory investigations, mitigate risks, resolve issues, and develop contingency actions.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and management of evidence to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Apply professional judgment to analyze evidence, develop findings, and draft fair and balanced conclusions with constructive recommendations.
- Prepare accurate and concise investigation reports with value-added conclusions and recommendations.
- Engage with and build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers and agency staff.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, applying plain language principles.
- Participate in regulatory actions such as audits and reviews as required.
- Research issues related to access to information and information privacy, applying strong analytical and conceptual skills.
- Stay up to date with best practices in investigations methodologies to support continuous improvement.

The OIC is an independent integrity agency that reports to Parliament. Our vision is an informed Queensland that values and respects information rights and responsibilities. We have a statutory role under the RTI Act and the IP Act to facilitate greater and easier access to information held by government agencies. We also assist agencies to understand their obligations under the IP Act to safeguard personal information that they hold. Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.
