    Who are we looking for?

    We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to join School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering.

    The position will contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching including teaching in the highly successful Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) (Construction Management and Quantity Surveying), where QUT is known for industry connections, real-world application of theory and evidence-based practice. The successful incumbent will have a record of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and bring strength to all aspects of quality teaching, including conceptualising, designing, delivering and reviewing curricula. Teaching areas of particular interest include – but are not limited to – methods of measurement, contract administration, and cost planning and control. The successful candidate will also provide high-impact research outcomes, delivered in collaboration with researchers across the School, Faculty and the University and with external partners in government and industry.

    What you need to succeed

    Level B

  • Completion of a PhD in Quantity Surveying, or a closely related field, with real world experience in the Australian construction industry
Ability to develop and maintain an excellent research program that supports or complements existing research strengths in the School of Architecture and Built Environment Demonstrated track record in high-quality teaching within quantity surveying and construction management including an ability to teach practically orientated curricula across a range of levels in the professionally oriented Construction and Quantity Surveying disciplines. Expertise in teaching measurement with reference to the Australian and New Zealand Standard Method of Measurement of Building Works, cost planning and control, contract administration, or risk management, will be highly regarded. Demonstrated partnerships with industry, professional associations (including the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, the Royal Institute of Charted Surveyors, the Australian Institute of Building) government or community groups and translate into opportunities for research and teaching or an ability to build these. Industry relevant knowledge will be regarded favourably. Demonstrated ability to cooperate and collaborate well with others in a team with diverse backgrounds and expertise. including cross disciplinary collaborations Personal drive and integrity, and demonstrated capacity to embrace and participate in change to improve personal and organisational effectiveness.

Level C
