Description:

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead the annual financial reports preparation process, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards
  • Play a lead role with Statutory obligations
  • Support with the periodical financial control internal and external audit review processes
  • Co-lead the annual tax accounting and compliance process with the head entity of the tax consolidated group.
  • Preparation of periodical briefing/decision papers for board meetings and other committees as required.
  • Preparation of accounting position papers for complex technical topics and key business transactions, as required.
  • Co-lead month end closure
  • Accounting and tax consolidation workpapers
  • Income tax calculations and tax accounting journals
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Accounting for investments, derivatives and debt facilities
  • Lease and concession accounting
  • Impairment
  • Provisions
  • Maintaining supporting models for financial assets, borrowings and other schedules.
  • Support the FP&A team in updating/reviewing key technical accounting topics across budgets, forecasts and the portfolio valuation model
  • Support the Senior Treasury Analyst with accounting for periodical distributions, ensuring compliance with contractual & legislative requirements
  • Co-lead the digitisation and redesign of key technical workpapers & schedules, ensuring adherence with standards and best practice approach
  • Support with establishing and maintaining policies and procedures and other material as required on issues relating to key tax and accounting topics

Requirements:

A successful 'Senior Group Financial Accountant' should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Big-4 or mid-tier audit experience is ideal
  • Proven experience in a similar role in the Financial Services industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 5 + Years experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent laws, regulations, and AASB standards.
