The Company

Our client is an ASX-listed Australian technology darling. The firm has rapidly expanded and developed its reach into new markets with operations across the US, UK, India, Europe, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. This is a highly complex business with an array of trading entities and foreign-denominated bank accounts. Any successful application will be expected to have strong FX and intercompany adjustment experience.

The business has zero politics and empowers individuals who take initiative to try new ideas, improve processes, and be creative in their work. The mantra "its better to ask for forgiveness than permission" is truly present in this company. Suits are not part of the culture of the business and nobody has a chip on their shoulder. With lush offices in the center of the city surrounded by fantastic dining options the company has mandatory office days on Wednesday and Thursday to promote a cohesive culture. Staff events on but all staff members can work from home Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

The Role

This is an urgent hire to replace a departing team member. A six-month temp-to-perm hire, this is a financial controller role that covers both FP&A and financial control for the business. The role involves, but is not limited to:

  • Lead the consolidation of month-end and management reports
  • Lead statutory reporting and annual finance statement preparation
  • Preparing P&L reports and conducting performance analysis
  • Overseeing multiple legal entities, intercompany transactions, and FX adjustments
  • Managing a finance team of 5
  • Leading budgeting and forecasting
  • Interpreting data from various business units and developing written reports for senior leadership and the board of directors
  • Enhancing current BI forecast reporting through the use of visualisation and dashboard tools
  • Partner with business executives to provide financial advice on various commercial projects and standard operations
  • Supporting ad-hoc commercial project such as mergers & acquisitions, finance system transformation, and finance process improvements

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in a permanent role that is willing to put their money with their mouth is and work through a six-month temp trial. You will be exposed to a challenging environment and receive mentorship from highly respected senior stakeholders.

Your Profile

  • CPA or CA accreditation
  • Audit background (Big-4 or mid-tier)
  • Impeccable communication skills and an exceptional analytical mindset
  • Netsuite and M&A experience are advantageous
  • Experience in a complex reporting environment with multiple trading entities
  • Experience dealing with complex FX arrangements with bank accounts denominated in a variety of currencies
  • Proven excel expertise and technical accounting skills
