Internship opportunity at UNIC Canberra focusing on public information and communication initiatives.

Your role

Responsibilities

  • Supporting research and outreach efforts for Information Integrity initiatives across the Pacific region.
  • Assisting with content and design of videos, social media posts, and conducting analysis of social media metrics.
  • Assisting with the production of communication products such as websites.
  • Conducting research, compiling information, coordinating logistics, and assisting with public enquiries.
  • Assisting with preparations for events, high-level visitors, and speaking engagements.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and organizing data for office reports.
  • Attending meetings and drafting summaries.
  • Performing other tasks as necessary.

About you

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Desirable skills include:
  • Keen interest in international affairs, international organizations, management, and change.
  • Strong planning, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for researching big-picture issues.
  • Familiarity with the United Nations.
  • Knowledge of social media.
  • Australia, New Zealand, and/or Pacific specific experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Compensation & benefits

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns must provide necessary hardware, software, and internet connection for remote work.

Training, development & rotations

Interns will gain experience in public information and communication, working under the supervision of the National Information Officer and other office staff.
